Task

Commissioned to showcase the capital's pivotal megaproject, the pavilion for MOSKOMARKHITEKTURA interprets the Big Circle Line (BCL) for the Zodchestvo 2023 International Architecture Festival.

Solution

The exhibition ‘BKL. Space of New Opportunities’ is a single volume of radially connected mini-tunnels that define the festival’s public exhibition space. The central atrium is formed by a ring of standard arched vaults, which transform into unique lines and spaces, embodying the individuality of the stations and the prospect of new opportunities for the city's development.

The architecture of the installation references the traditional and structural foundations of the metro, hybridizing the morphotypes of typical metro construction designs and transforming the installation into a space of arches, lobbies, tunnels, and passageways.

The exhibition provides information about the facts and key principles of the BCL construction while showcasing the architectural diversity of every station along the Big Circle Line.
